The problem

You've been here before.

You signed up for Bonsai. Then tried HoneyBook. Then someone recommended a Notion template, so you spent a weekend rebuilding everything. Then the subscription renewed at a higher price.

Three years of business data, scattered across four tools you don't fully control. Each one billing you monthly to access work you already did.

Something is wrong with this picture.

What's inside

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

01

Clients

A clean directory of everyone you work with. Contact details, tax IDs for international invoicing, status (active, prospect, archived), tags, notes.

02

Projects

Every project linked to its client. Deadlines, hourly or fixed-price billing, currency per project, estimated vs actual hours. See what's late and what's profitable.

03

Time Tracking

A live timer that follows you across modules, plus manual entry for hours you forgot to log. Every entry tagged billable or non-billable, linked to its project.

04

Your data, your file

Export everything as JSON in one click. Import it on another machine in seconds. Back it up to Dropbox, a USB stick, or email it to yourself. You own the file.

05

Works offline

Once unzipped, it works on a plane, in a café with broken Wi-Fi, anywhere. No internet required — ever. Not even on first launch.

06

Open source code

The code is not minified or obfuscated. You can read every line if you want to. Audit it, understand it, trust it — because you can see it.

A different idea

Built on purpose.
Left out on purpose.

What's inside — and why

  • No account — there is nothing to sign up to
  • No cloud — your data never leaves your computer
  • No subscription — you pay once, it works forever
  • No telemetry — we cannot see how you use it
  • No backend — no server means no breach
  • No minified code — you can read every line

What's not in v1 — and why not

  • No invoice generation — coming in v1.1, free for you
  • No team features — this is a solo tool by design
  • No Zapier integrations — intentionally self-contained
  • No AI — a tool, not a chatbot
  • No mobile app — desktop-first, works on mobile browser
Who it's for

Made for one kind
of professional.

This is for you if

  • You are a solo freelancer or contractor
  • You bill by the hour, by project, or both
  • You have clients in multiple countries
  • You have paid for at least one tool you regretted
  • You care about where your data lives
  • You are comfortable opening a file in a browser

This is not for you if

  • You need a team workspace with multiple users
  • You want automated email workflows and CRM pipelines
  • You need 20+ app integrations via Zapier or Make
  • You prefer paying monthly to not think about it
  • You need invoicing today — that is v1.1, coming soon
Questions

Frequently asked.

What if I lose my computer?

Use the export function regularly — it produces a small JSON file you can store anywhere. Dropbox, iCloud, a USB stick, email to yourself. Importing it on a new machine takes five seconds. The app reminds you to export after two weeks of use.

Can I use it on multiple devices?

Yes — the licence is per person, not per device. Install it on your desktop, laptop, and travel machine. Sync by exporting from one and importing on another. It takes ten seconds.

How does it compare to Bonsai or HoneyBook?

They are SaaS tools at €25–50 per month, built for teams, with automation and integrations. The Freelance OS is a single-user offline app at €89 once. If you need workflows and team features, get Bonsai. If you need a clean tool you actually own, get this.

Will there be updates?

Yes. v1.1 — invoice generation, PDF export, payment tracking — is in development. Everyone who buys v1 gets all v1.x updates free, forever. A future v2.0 may be a paid upgrade at the buyer's choice.

What if I don't like it?

Gumroad's standard refund policy applies — request a refund within 14 days for a full refund, no questions asked.

What browsers does it work on?

Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge — any version from the last three years. Works on macOS, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS. No installation, no admin rights needed.
